Keith Valone, Ph.D., Psy.D., M.S.C.P., Clinical Director
 Keith Valone, Ph.D., Psy.D., M.S.C.P., is a licensed clinical psychologist, a certified psychoanalyst, and a clinical psychopharmacologist who has been in independent private practice for 27 years. Dr. Valone received his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Psychology. He completed a predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at the University of California, San Francisco Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, an APA Approved Internship in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Valone completed a two and one half year National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) postdoctoral fellowship in research and treatment of schizophrenia and related disorders at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Valone completed a second doctorate in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, and a Postdoctoral Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University. Dr. Valone is a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
Dr. Valone is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He is also a Senior Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, California where he teaches and supervises candidates for the doctoral degree in psychoanalysis. Dr. Valone is on the Medical Staff at a psychiatric hospital, and is also on staff at a general medical/surgical hospital with a psychiatric facility. He has had administrative experience at two psychiatric hospitals, has chaired numerous committees in both academic and hospital Medical Staff settings, and has served on the Medical Executive Committee at two hospitals on several occasions. He has served as an expert witness in California State Court and Federal Court. Dr. Valone has published several articles in professional journals in clinical psychology, psychoanalysis, and social psychology.

Dr. Valone is a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Psychoeducation Specialist; TMS is a new medical treatment for Depression for patients who have not benefitted from prior antidepressant treatment. Dr. Valone further specializes in Family Focused Therapy (FFT), a branded family therapy for Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. Dr. Valone also is an expert in differential psychiatric diagnosis, and routinely administers the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV-TR (SCID) in order to determine diagnostic accuracy and precision when questions arise as to a patient's correct psychiatric or psychological diagnosis.
Barbara Janetzke, Ph.D., Senior Clinical Associate

Barbara Janetzke, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who graduated from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology, an American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Doctoral Training Program, with her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2003. She also received a Master’s Degree in Theology in 2003 from Fuller Theological Seminary. Dr. Janetzke has worked in the field of chemical dependency for over 18 years. She completed a predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at the Veteran’s Hospital (VA) Sepulveda, California, an APA Approved Internship in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Janetzke completed a one year postdoctoral Clinical Fellowship at Patton State Hospital focused on developing expertise in recognizing the complex relationship between forensic commitment and the clinical needs of individuals with a severe mental illness. She acquired diagnostic and treatment expertise in the areas of Bipolar Spectrum Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Dual Diagnosis, Traumatic Disorders, and Personality Disorders. Dr. Janetzke also completed specialty training through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for the treatment of Bipolar Spectrum Disorders. She is also currently completing a Postdoctoral Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University.
Dr. Janetzke is an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University, an APA Accredited Doctoral Training Program, where she teaches doctoral clinical psychology students. Dr. Janetzke is on the Medical Staff at a psychiatric hospital, and is also on staff at a general medical/surgical hospital with a psychiatric facility. She has had administrative experience at two psychiatric hospitals and a State Hospital, has chaired numerous committees in both academic and hospital Medical Staff settings, and has served on the Medical Executive Committee at a psychiatric hospital. Dr. Janetzke has provided psychological and neuropsychological assessment to address issues pertaining to commitment type (for example, Incompetent to Stand Trial, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, and Mentally Disordered Offenders), diagnostic clarification, and treatment planning. Dr. Janetzke has also provided evaluations and court testimony for Mentally Disordered Offenders (MDO) within a State Hospital setting.

Annette Ermshar, Ph.D., M.S., ABPP, Senior Clinical Associate
Annette Ermshar, Ph.D., M.S., ABPP is a licensed clinical psychologist, with specialization in neuropsychology and forensic psychology. Dr. Ermshar received her doctorate in clinical psychology at Loma Linda University, an American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Psychology. She completed a predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at Hutchings Psychiatric Hospital, a state hospital in Syracuse, New York, and an APA Accredited Internship in Clinical Psychology. She received specialized training in Bipolar Disorder, substance abuse disorders, child/adolescent development, schizophrenia, and dual diagnosis. Dr. Ermshar completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Forensic Psychology at Patton State Hospital, the largest forensic state hospital in California. She has also completed a Postdoctoral Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University. Dr. Ermshar is Board Certified in Forensic Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and is one of approximately 250 ABPP Diplomates in Forensic Psychology in the United States. She is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP).
Dr. Ermshar is an Assistant Professor, Core Faculty at the California School of Forensic Studies at Alliant International University, where she teaches doctoral level students. Dr. Ermshar also currently holds the position of Clerkship/Practicum Training Director at Patton State Hospital where she trains and supervises doctoral candidates in clinical psychology. Dr. Ermshar is on the Panel of Medical Experts for San Bernardino County Superior Court and Juvenile Court. Dr. Ermshar is on the medical staff and two psychiatric hospitals, and is also on staff at a general medical/surgical hospital with a psychiatric facility. She has served on the Medical Executive Committee as well as numerous other hospital committees. She has given numerous invited addresses, seminars, and workshops to psychologists and attorneys and is published in the area of forensic psychology.
Dr. Ermshar specializes in forensic psychology, neuropsychology, and clinical/diagnostic psychological assessment and evaluation. Dr. Ermshar has served as an expert witness in numerous court cases within Federal Court, California Superior Courts, and California Juvenile Courts. Her consultation and expert testimony expertise includes addressing legal questions pertinent to mental disability, violence and sex offender risk assessment, pervasive developmental disorders (autism spectrum), learning disability, head injury, neuropsychological functioning, cognitive ability, psychological/emotional damages, sex offenses, and various criminal and civil forensic evaluations. Dr. Ermshar is an expert in alternative sentencing. Dr. Ermshar also provides litigation consultation to attorneys regarding various psycho-legal issues, including the review of psychological work products. In addition to assessment, Dr. Ermshar specializes in treatment of adolescents, young adults, and female executives. Dr. Ermshar also specializes in Cognitive Rehabilitation, a treatment for cognitive disorders, including ADHD, dementias, and the cognitive deficits associated with psychiatric and neurological disorders.
Adam Herdina, Psy.D., Clinical Associate
Adam Herdina, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist. Dr. Herdina received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of La Verne, an American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Doctoral Training Program. He completed graduate training at Aurora Charter Oak Hospital, an acute inpatient psychiatric and drug/alcohol treatment facility, on the child/adolescent unit and the adult unit, treating complex cases that included Suicide Assessment, Trauma, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Dual Diagnosis. During his inpatient hospital training, he also received intensive training in Family Therapy. Dr. Herdina also completed a one-year predoctoral training program at the Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Correctional Institution - Terminal Island, California. At Terminal Island, Dr. Herdina conducted Threat/Dangerousness Assessments, taught Anger Management courses, and acquired Forensic Diagnostic expertise. Dr. Herdina completed post-doctoral training at SHARPER FUTURE, a forensic outpatient treatment program for Federal and State offenders. Dr. Herdina was trained in intensive Group Therapy with these special populations and obtained significant assessment and treatment expertise with pretrial and post-conviction sex-offenders.
Dr. Herdina currently holds the position of staff psychologist with Behavioral Science Services, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). This position includes individual and couples therapy to Department (sworn and civilian) personnel and significant others; Department training on topics such as Suicide Prevention, Stress Management, Anger Management, emotional leadership, and violent criminal behavior; and Debriefings and Defusings following Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) and Categorical Use Of Force (CUOF) fatal and nonfatal incidents. Dr. Herdina is a certified member of the LAPD Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) and responds to hostage negotiation and barricaded suspect situations with Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team. Dr. Herdina conducts Organizational Consultation for workgroups within the LAPD: Southeast Police Division (Watts), Robbery and Homicide Division (RHD), Commercial Crimes Division (CCD), and the Addiction Recovery Unit (ARU). Additionally, Dr. Herdina conducts neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessments of Department Personnel. Dr. Herdina is an Adjunct Professor of Forensic Psychology at Alliant International University, California School of Forensic Studies where he teaches forensic psychology doctoral students. Dr. Herdina is on the Medical Staff at a psychiatric hospital. He has served as an expert witness in California State Court.
Dr. Herdina specializes in clinical and forensic treatment and clinical/diagnostic psychological assessment and evaluation.
