Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a condition in which an individual has two or more distinct personalities that repeatedly take over the person’s thoughts and behaviors. Each of these personalities often has their own personal history, self-image, memories, and name. Switching between these identities often results in significant gaps in memory, too large to be explained by normal forgetfulness.
